"Whatever way birth happens, it is your rite of passage into parenthood, and that passage is to be celebrated. Natural childbirth is a passage, cesarean birth is a passage, and birth with an epidural is a passage to be celebrated. That passage cannot be taken away from you. Every mother's (and father's) birth experience is valid, and an act of faith."
Whether its a babyshower, blessingway or baby welcome Maternal Touch may be able to help.
I had the honour of attending a doula clients baby naming ceremony at a local registry office. The first words from the registrants lips after welcoming us all was 'This isn't a legal ceremony'. My clients were so upset, they were fully aware of that (as was the rest of us as it was also printed on the order of ceremony sheets provided by the registry office), but felt that it spoiled their day.. Next time we spoke we discussed what they would have liked from the ceremony and their thoughts and ideas are the basis for the celebrations listed here - although every celebration is totally unique. Its your baby and how you choose to celebrate their arrival (before or after the birth) is entirely up to you! The main point is to celebrate YOUR baby and family in a place special to YOU with words and symbols that are meaningful to YOU.
If you just want help planning your celebration, or you would like us to help you every step of the way and act as your 'master of ceremonies' on day - we have a service for everyone and for every pocket.
